$8 billion to be raised through new taxes, compliance measures

Finance and Planning Minister, Dr. Peter Phillips says Jamaicans can expect $8 billion dollars in new taxes and additional compliance measures in the upcoming fiscal year.
According to Phillips, while the government will be increasing its focus on compliance and there will be some new taxes.
This as the government tries to stick to its primary surplus target of 7.5 percent
The primary surplus is the difference between revenues collected and money that is spent to finance the budget.
Dr. Phillips was speaking at a press conference, following the tabling of the Estimates of Expenditure and Revenues this afternoon at Gordon House.
