New Digicel CEO Butler prepares to fly in as O’Brien heads out
A twelve-year veteran of the Digicel Group is preparing to take over the reigns at Digicel Jamaica from CEO Barry O’Brien. He is David Butler and despite the Thursday morning snap announcement there is no definitive word as to exactly when he will arrive in Jamaica. A spokesperson who declined to be named indicated that ‘back office operations’ such as work permits, accommodation and travel have to be worked out.
Butler will replace Barry O’Brien who has been at the helm for the past two years.
O’Brien is to be promoted to the role of Director of Business Development for Digicel Caribbean and Central America and Board Director for Digicel Barbados stated a release from Jamaica’s largest telecoms company.
Butler is coming to Jamaica from his current position as CEO for Digicel Panama and over 12 years senior management experience under his belt starting with Digicel in the Eastern Caribbean in 2003.
Since then, he has also held the position of CEO for Digicel in Fiji, Tonga and Vanuatu in the Pacific region.
