Police pursuing suspects linked to Negril shooting
The Westmoreland Police say they are now pursuing suspects linked to last night's shooting of four women and one man in the resort town of Negril.
One of the women, 18-year-old Ombretta Jackson of Lime Tree Lane West End died shortly after the shooting.
It is reported that about 8:45 p.m., Jackson was among a group of persons at a shop in the area, when they were approached by two armed men who opened gunfire hitting her and the four other women.
She was later pronounced dead at hospital and the four other females admitted in serious condition.
The gunmen escaped on a motorcycle.
However, head of the police division in Westmoreland, Superintendent Beau Rigaby, says investigators have identified what they call targets and are now pursuing them.
He says security has been increased in the Negril area.
Police Commissioner Dr Carl Williams has strongly condemned the shooting.
He says no effort will be spared to track, find and bring to justice the gunmen.
