The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is reporting that at least five people were injured during a collision, involving one of its buses in Portmore, St Catherine about six o’clock this morning.

JUTC managing director, Colin Campbell, says the injured persons were travelling in a Hiace minibus which overturned in the Christian Gardens area after running into the side of the JUTC bus.

Campbell says preliminary reports suggest that the driver of the minibus was attempting to avoid a pothole when he lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into the JUTC bus travelling in an opposite direction.

He says police and firefighters are currently on the scene.

The JUTC’s accident team is also at the site of the crash.
