The Guyanese government has described as unethical and disingenuous the decision by some media houses to publish the private medical details of some government officials.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health said it wanted to voice its absolute consternation at the decision of the media houses to take what it said were cheap shots for political mileage.

The ministry said it is well established that private details, particularly those dealing with the health and finance of citizens, are not normally exposed, except under certain extreme conditions.

It further said media houses have revealed their political biases and an insensitive and inimical culture of journalism, towards the Government of Guyana and the ruling People’s Progressive Party Civic.
