Public Relations Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Emeleo Ebanks says it could take another six days before the fire at the Riverton Landfill is put out.

According to Ebanks, members of the Fire Brigade have been working hard to put out the fire which has been how been contained.

He says 15 tipper trucks are transporting dirt onto the site and two tractors are spreading it on the dump.

Meanwhile, five fire units are on the scene.

Ebanks says a water relay system is also being used to pump water from a canal at the landfill to the  fire.

However, he says windy conditions are hindering the progress of the fire team.
