AUDIO: PM says stiffer penalties coming for killers of pregnant girls

The Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has announced that the law is to be amended to allow or stiffer penalties where a girl is murdered and the perpetrator knew that she was pregnant.

Simpson Miller made the announcement a short while ago as she began her contribution to the Budget Debate.

The Prime Minister was impassioned as she opened her presentation lamenting the incidents of violence against children.

“The abuse of the nation's children weighs heavily on my heart,” Simpson Miller said.

She particularly highlighted incidents of incest.

“Big men and women, step-fathers, uncles and cousins, who prey on children, must leave our little children alone!”

The Prime Minister also said the Government will intensify efforts to bring to book the perpetrators of heinous crimes against children.
