Gov't says Holness will be invited to Obama event

Minister with responsibility for information, Senator Sandrea Falconer has indicated that Opposition Leader Andrew Holness will participate in the visit of United States President Barack Obama.

Senator Falconer says Holness will be invited to at least one of the President’s events.

However it is uncertain, whether the Opposition leader has been informed.

Shortly after Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller announced that the President would make a state visit to the island last month, word came from the US Embassy that there were no plans for Obama to meet with the Opposition Leader.

This caused Holness to question why the opposition was being left out of an official visit.

Senator Falconer attempted to clarify the matter at Jamaica House this afternoon.
