Jaguar F-PACE launched
The 2016 Olympics have put Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, firmly in the hearts and minds of the world, track and field crazy Jamaica naturally included. On Thursday evening, though, the connection between the South American country and Jamaica was not through lanes on a track but a martial arts/dance form.
Capoeira was incorporated into the official presentation of the F-PACE, billed as luxury brand Jaguar’s first performance crossover, performers' grace and controlled power heralding the vehicle's characteristics. Duncan Stewart, Stewart’s Auomotive Group director, did the launch honours of a vehicle whose makers revel in its innovation.
In a press release Ian Callum, director of design at Jaguar, said “by remaining absolutely true to our design principles the all- new F-PACE is immediately recognisable as a Jaguar. It offers all of the interior space you would expect — and more- but because of our disciplined approach to surfaces, proportions, and purity of line, we have designed what I consider to be the most balanced, most attractive vehicle in its class.”
When they could get a closer look, several of the guests took a turn behind the F-PACE’s steering wheel and passenger seats, host Terri-Karelle Griffith having a word or two (purchase encouragement included) for some of them. There is a lot to look at inside the features rich F-PACE, matching an exterior which the designers describe as having “powerful rear haunches, fender vents and distinctive tail light graphics.”
Using Lightweight Aluminium Architecture allows the vehicle to return over 50 miles per gallon fuel economy figures. The Jaguar F-PACE starts at $11.7 million.
