Other 2017 Mercedes-Benz models were also showcased.

The invitation to Thursday evening's event at Silver Star Motors on South Camp Road, Kingston, offered those who received them the opportunity to "sip and savour an assortment of fine wines, while exploring a range of 2017 models from Mercedes-Benz".

This time around, it was not the car dealer who issued the invitation, but the Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB) Group, whose corporate communications head, Patricia Valentine, told Automotives that about 50 persons had been asked to attend.

"What we did was invite select JMMB clients to come to the event. It was about JMMB clients," Valentine said.

While there were five 2017 Mercedes-Benz models on show, the centrepiece was the Mercedes-AMG C43 sedan, which was unveiled for a first look in Jamaica - and, possibly, the Caribbean. It had its admirers, naturally. Valentine reported that one man said he was into SUVs, but the AMG C43 had him thinking.

She said it was an outstanding vehicle, especially "if you are into performance". There is also fuel efficiency in the package.

The other 2017 Mercedes-Benz models on the Silver Star showroom floor that night were the E200 and C300 sedans, along with the GLA 250 and GLC 250 SUVs.

The financial institution partnering with the car dealer, naturally, there were money matters involved. Valentine said that on the night, there was a special rate on JMMB's Drive Easy motor vehicle financing facility. There was a special interest rate of 8.65 per cent (100 per cent financing), with a one per cent processing fee.

"We would have had JMMB representatives along with the Silver Star representatives in the space," Valentine said.

She positioned the joint event as part of JMMB's approach to being a partner with its customers, saying the company wants to be a part of their lifestyle. As such, the company has been involved in other events that connect with people's lives, including focusing on fitness and finance, and another event on mothers.

"We want to be part of your lives," Valentine emphasised.

The C43 sedan has got an impressive five-star rating from motor vehicle experts Car and Driver. It is equipped with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V-6 engine that returns 362 horsepower, sure-footed handling provided by all-wheel drive, a seven-speed automatic transmission providing a smooth power transfer. The five-seater sedan sits on 18-inch wheels.
