George Souris exited Supreme Ventures Limited on October 24, a week before his contract was up.

SVL said the contract term for the position of vice-president of sports betting would have expired on October 31.

Meantime, the gaming company has hired Jomo Cato as vice-president of commercial operations and business development.

Cato will be responsible for managing the company's customer service with contracted agents in the field and expanding distribution of lottery and sports betting, "especially given his experience with bars and retail channels throughout the island," SVL said.

The latter was in reference to Cato's previous job as the head of marketing for beer maker and spirits distributor Red Stripe Jamaica, a Diageo subsidiary. His track record also includes jobs with mobile phone company Digicel, rum maker J. Wray & Nephew Limited, and St Vincent Brewery Limited.

He also has some knowledge of the lottery business from the marketing perspective through his work at Dunlop Corbin Communications, where, SVL said, he managed the launch of the lottery products across the Caribbean for the Leeward Island Lottery.

At SVL, Cato will have primary responsibility for "growth of the sports betting portfolio, marketing management for all current and future brands and lead the support for deployment of the video lottery gaming operations through the route system and lounges".

The marketing expert was educated at the University of the West Indies where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics and management.
