Outgoing president of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) Christopher Zacca has endorsed William Mahfood as his candidate of choice for the PSOJ presidency

Mahfood, who is the head of beverage company Wisynco Group, will offer himself at elections to be held on December 18.

Zacca was showered with accolades from opposition leader Andrew Holness, Minister of Finance Dr Peter Phillips, and William McConnell at a farewell luncheon hosted by the PSOJ.

Zacca has led the country's top private sector lobby for five years over two non-consecutive terms - from 2006 to 2009 and from 2012 to 2014.

"The time has come to allow for a renewal of leadership and to make way for younger, fresher ideas," he said at Thursday's luncheon.

Among the praises, he was commended by Finance Minister Phillips for his role in the debt swap of 2013 and the tax-reform process.

Asking Mahfood to rise for recognition, Zacca told the room that he would be the best pick for the next administration.
