Hyde appointed JNSBL general manager
Gillian Hyde has been appointed general manager at JN Small Business Loans (JNSBL), a subsidiary of the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS), effective tomorrow, January 1, 2015.
Currently executive in charge of the Society's Enterprise Contact Centre and Member Ombudsman, Hyde is a former senior manager, Budgeting, Performance Measurement and Reporting at JNBS.
At JNSBL, she will replace General Manager Philip Bernard, who has served in the position for the last 18 months and who demits office today.
JNSBL, one of the larger local micro-lending companies, provided some J$2.6 billion in loans for the last financial year, which the company said resulted in the creation of 16,151 jobs.
The company's marketing strategy included partnerships with the Development Bank of Jamaica, Micro Investment Development Agency (MIDA), National Insurance Fund (NIF), Ex-Im Bank, Sagicor Bank, and the Tourism Enhancement Fund. The micro lender also completed a rebranding exercise.
Chairman of JNSBL, Parris Lyew-Ayee, in a release yesterday said that Hyde will strengthen and widen JNSBL's reach within the microfinance sector, "given her professional financial background and her recent experience in the area of customer service".
He said he believed that "she will use her experiences to further position JNSBL as a company that can deliver the resources and management skills that its clients need to excel in the small business sector".
Lyew-Ayee said Hyde will "bring extensive finance and management experience to the post, having served the JNBS in several capacities prior to accepting the offer to become the general manager of JNSBL".
Hyde joined JNBS in 2003, working in the area of finance and corporate strategic planning.
