Sean Latty is back on Digicel's payroll as chief operating officer for the mobile side of the telecom's Jamaican operations.

Latty previously managed Digicel's operations in St Vincent and the Grenadines, among other jobs, but left to run the operations of Columbus Communications Jamaica, which trades as Flow.

Eight months later, Latty was widely expected to be out of a job, or, at the very least, have a junior role to Garfield Sinclair after the merger of the operations of Columbus International with Cable & Wireless Communications Plc. Sinclair is the country boss for LIME Jamaica.

On Wednesday, Digicel announced that Latty's responsibilities would span the technical, customer care, distribution, customer experience and facilities departments.

He first joined Digicel at the company's launch in Jamaica in 2001, and has served the group in various markets over a twelve-year span, including operations director for Digicel Cayman Islands, country manager for Digicel St Kitts-Nevis and country manager for St Vincent and the Grenadines.

He left in 2013 and began running Flow Jamaica in June 2014 as replacement for Michele English.

"Sean is a Digicel veteran with well over a decade of solid telecoms experience and we are very excited to welcome him back into the family," said Digicel Jamaica CEO Barry O'Brien, in a company issued statement.

"This is indeed a positive thing for us, as with Sean's track record, we have no doubt that he will help to take the Jamaica mobile operation to the next level," O'Brien said.
