Seprod pushing south for export growth
Seprod Limited is recruiting a new export sales manager who is fluent in Spanish as it readies to expand exports to South America.
Seprod currently exports to United States, Canada, United Kingdom
and the Caribbean islands of Barbados, Grenada, Dominica, St Kitts-Nevis, Trinidad, St Lucia and Haiti.
CEO Richard Pandohie indicated that while the traditional markets offer more prospects for growth, Seprod will also be testing out other frontiers.
"The US market offers our brands the greatest opportunity, given the strategy to gain increased market share with not just the Jamaican diaspora but to expand to the larger Caribbean diasporas in the US," said Pandohie.
"Additionally, we will be exploring export to South America via Venezuela." he said.
Already, Seprod has struck a distribution deal with GraceKennedy Foods USA, which will give some of its food products access to the Hispanic and mainstream retail market.
Pandohie was unwilling to speak in detail about the South American push but signalled that the new management recruit would be expected to help the company explore such markets.
"Given the geo-demographic shifts that have occurred in the target market and our new strategic direction, we believe that this role should be internationalised and be able to communicate with (and) within the market segments," Pandohie said of the new recruit.
The export sales manager will operate out of the marketing department, which is currently headed by Marcia Kitson Walters.
