BGLC to launch online registration portal
The Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission (BGLC) is to launch an online registration window for both the application and renewal of licences.
The online registration and payment system should be ready by September and will work much like a typical portal that requires users to enter their own names or the name of their companies, taxpayer registration number, email address, and some details on their operations.
The email addresses entered will be set as passwords so "in the event that you forget your password it will send a link to your email address and you can create a new password," director of information communications and technology at the BGLC, Carole Johnson told operators at the BGLC's annual gaming industry summit last Thursday.
Currently, licensees must complete "voluminous forms" and often make several trips between the BGLC's office and Tax Administration Jamaica to complete the renewal or application process.
BGLC will compliment the roll-out with a YouTube video to demonstrate how the system is used.
Payments will be facilitated by debit or credit cards or at Paymaster locations, Johnson said.
The online portal "should have been rolled out for the end of June", but Johnson now says testings with stakeholders is anticipated by the end of July "so the latest date for me is September," she added, referring to the launch of the system.
The BGLC will also invite feedback on the system so the agency can make adjustments.
