Digicel expands fibre network to MoBay resort corridor
By the end of October 2015, hotels and other businesses along Montego Bay's so-called Elegant Corridor will have access to high-speed Internet from Digicel Business, powered by underground fibre.
The project continues the expansion of the Digicel Business fibre network on which investments of $600 million have already rolled out the service one year ago in Kingston and Montego Bay Free Zone areas, said Digicel.
The Elegant Corridor is aligned with resort properties stretching to Rose Hall.
President of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gloria Henry, says the investment would facilitate business in the area.
"It's also very timely with the commission of the lighting for the Elegant Corridor, and there are also a few other expansions taking place as well, like some of the hotels along that section and some other developments there," said Henry, in a Digicel-issued release.
"So I believe this is a good move on the part of Digicel to continue to expand its Internet and telecoms infrastructure to support the development efforts of the western region and, in particular, Montego Bay," she said.
