Jan 25: JSE gains 2,290 points
The Combined Index of the Jamaica Stock Exchange climbed 2,290.59 points or 1.36 per cent to close at 170,337.74 on Monday.
Some 8.6 million units traded, valued at $286 million. Of the 37 stocks that traded, 16 gained in value, 11 declined and eight were unchanged.
The most heavily traded stocks were National Commercial Bank, 2.2 million units; GraceKennedy, 1.95 million and JMMB Group 1.04 million units.
The largest price gains were made by Supreme Ventures, Caribbean Cement and Ciboney Group. Lossmakers were led by Barita Investments, Berger Paints and Caribbean Producers.
The JSE Combined Index incorporates the main and junior markets. The JSE Index gained 2,619 points Monday or 1.67 per cent to close at 159,325.44 points; the Junior Market Index fell 20 points 0.88 per cent to close down at 2,26.08 points; and the JSE USD Equities Index was unchanged at 156.45 points.
The combined index is up 12,069 points or 7.63 per cent year to date.
