Feb 1: Pulse dominates trading, JSE gains 1,555 points

The Combined Index of the Jamaica Stock Exchange rose 1,555 points or 0.91 per cent to close at 172,394.70 points in daily trading Monday.

Just over 12.14 million units were bought and sold on the JSE, valued at $49 million. Pulse dominated the day in volume trades with over 10 million units. The stock closed up by three cents at $3.22. Other volume leaders were Lasco Manufacturing, which gained 12 cents to end the day at $4.97 and Ciboney Group, which shed one cent to close down at 23 cents.

Forty stocks traded Monday — 27 gained value, nine declined, and four were unchanged.

The JSE Combined Index incorporates the main and junior markets. The JSE Index gained 1,182 points to close at 161,531.59 points; the Junior Market Index added 48.69 points to close 2,223.50 points; and the USD Equities Index lost 1.5 points to close at 161.15 points.
