Feb 8: JSE stocks sink 2,448 points

The Combined Index of the Jamaica Stock Exchange lost 2,448 points or 1.4 per cent on Monday to close at 170,583.93 points on Monday, prolonging the losses from Friday.

More than six million units traded valued at $151 million. The top market movers of the 41 stocks that traded were National Commercial Bank, which lost $2.36 to close at $41.05; Cable & Wireless Jamaica, which  Some 41 stocks stock traded Thursday, of which ended day unchanged at $1.54; and Sagicor Group Jamaica, which also shed value to close down eight cents at $22.90.

The JSE Combined Index incorporates the main and junior markets. The JSE Index declined by 2,948.76 points or 1.82% to close at 158,874.73 points. The JSE Junior Market Index advanced by 36.81 points or 1.63% to close up at 2,300.38 points, and the JSE USD Equities Index also advanced by 0.16 points or 0.10% to close at 158.66 points.
