JSE stocks extend losses for second day
The Jamaica Stock Exchange Combined Index declined on Friday by 554 points or less than one-third of a percentage point to close at 170,686.48. However more stocks still advanced than declined.
It extends losses from Thursday when the index shed 667 points.
Just over 11.26 million units valued at over $258.37 million traded on Friday. Cable & Wireless Jamaica was the volume leader with 4.35 million units or 38.64 per cent of the units traded followed by Pan Jamaican Investment Trust with two million units, and Lasco Financial Services with 1.2 million units.
Overall market activity resulted from trading in 38 stocks of which 18 advanced, 16 declined and four traded firm. Advancing stocks included C&W Jamaica, Caribbean Cement, and Scotia Investments . Declining stocks included Caribbean Cream, Scotia Group and tTech.
The Combined index includes the main, junior and US dollar equities markets. The JSE Index declined by 412.90 points to close at 159,295.05; The Junior Market Index declined by 18.19 points to close at 2,267.86; and the JSE USD Equities Index declined by 0.77 points to close at 158.93.
