Mar 21: Jamaican stocks up 199 points

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Combined Index rose by 199 points or 0.12 per cent on Monday to close at 162,380.97 points.

Market transactions covered 32 stocks, half of which lost value. Sixteen stocks lost value on Monday, 12 advanced and four were unchanged. More than 4.4 million units traded valued at just under $106 million.

The three most active stocks were food group Jamaica Producers, which closed unchanged at $31; financial conglomerate Sagicor Group, up 33 cents at $23.25; and IronRock Insurance, which lost 20 cents to close at $3.88.

The combined index includes the main, junior and US dollar equities markets. The JSE Index rose 498 points to close at 153,581.38 points; the Junior Market Index declined by 29.68 points 1,944.64 points; while the JSE USD Equities Index also closed lower by 0.12 point at 150.96 points.
