The University of the West Indies (UWI) and real estate partner 138 Student Living Jamaica will be launching a rental programme to keep the rooms on the residential halls at Mona occupied during holiday breaks.

The programme will cover both the traditional halls of residences as well as those built and operated by the real estate company.

138 Student Living has concession agreement with UWI Mona to build and operate student residences. Its subsidiary, 138 SL Restoration, has a similar concession agreement with UWI to renovate Irvine Hall, which is now under way.

The company has delivered just over 1,000 of the 1,584 rooms it is developing on the campus.

Chairman John Lee said at 138 Student Living's annual general meeting on Monday that clubs, sporting associations, church groups and event planners will targeted under the summer rental programme.
