Following an apparent disagreement over the direction of Sagicor Group Jamaica's hotel portfolio, the financial conglomerate says the parties have settled on a new posting for Rohan Miller.

Effective January 2, Miller, who was in charge of the hotel portfolio as president and chief executive officer of Sagicor Real Estate X Fund Limited, has been given a new job with Sagicor Financial Corporation, the Barbadian parent company for Sagicor Jamaica.

Miller has been appointed head of treasury at Sagicor Financial and will be stationed in Tampa, Florida.

Chairman of X Fund, Richard Byles, will assume oversight of the company in the interim.

Consequent to Miller's departure, other management changes announced by Sagicor this week included the promotion of Kevin Donaldson as senior vice-president and chief executive officer of Sagicor Investments Jamaica Limited. Miller ran the wealth subsidiary up to his secondment to oversee the group's hotel operations last October.

Donnette Scarlett has also been promoted to senior vice-president for group treasury and asset management.

Last week, amid rumours that the Playa hotel group has expressed interest in buying the hotels controlled by Sagicor Group Jamaica, Miller was reported to have separated from the financial conglomerate after 23 years.

The Financial Gleaner was reliably informed that while Miller wanted to continue to grow and expand the hotel portfolio, Sagicor Group President & CEO Christopher Zacca and Byles, who is also chairman of Sagicor Group, wanted to "head in another direction".

"We wish Rohan all the best as he moves to a new phase in his professional career," said Zacca, in a release about the new appointment.

Zacca also said Sagicor remains committed to continued investment in, and development of, the tourism industry.
