Guyana parliament to be dissolved on Saturday
Guyanese president Donald Ramotar says the National assembly will be dissolved on Saturday, as Guyana prepares for a general election on May 11.
In a radio and television broadcast last night, Ramotar recalled he had prorogued the parliament last November to allow the parties to resolve various national issues.
He said he wanted to give the Guyana Election Commission time to have another round of registration to facilitate those persons who did not have the required documents.
However, he told the nation that the opposition refused to dialogue and he was left with no option but to call elections for May 11.
