Teen suspect in McDonald’s beating in NY nabbed on plane bound for Jamaica
NEW YORK, Mar 15, CMC -- A 14-year-old girl allegedly involved in the vicious attack on another teenage girl at a McDonald’s restaurant in Brooklyn has been apprehended in Atlanta, Georgia, just moments away from flying off to Jamaica.
The police report that on Friday, the unidentified girl, who was accompanied by her mother, was pulled off the flight at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) on discovering that a ticket was purchased for the girl in Atlanta, and notified authorities in Georgia.
The girl, who has relatives in Jamaica, was arrested and charged as a juvenile.
Police have also reported that the search is continuing for the last of the McDonald’s mayhem suspects after a fifth teenage girl surrendered to cops in Brooklyn.
Mercedes Wilkinson, 16, turned herself in at the 70th Precinct stationhouse in Brooklyn on Saturday, one day after three of her alleged co-conspirators were nabbed for the barbaric three-minute beatdown at the restaurant.
The accused ringleader of the attack, Aniah Ferguson, 16, remained behind bars in New York’s Rikers Island jail on US$500,000 bail, as cops sought the last suspect.
Police said the beating, plotted for the past two months, was inflicted as revenge for unspecified slight against a close Ferguson friend.
The attack that was captured on cell phone videos by a crowd that cheered the beating, According to a report in the New York Daily News, no one helped the victim, Ariana Taylor, until she was already battered and cowering under a table.
Ferguson confessed that the revenge assault was two months in the making and t hat she was stalking Taylor since January to avenge something done by the girl “to a very close friend.”
Ferguson faces up to 25 years in prison on charges of gang assault and robbery.
Taylor suffered a concussion, multiple bruises and contusions all over her body during the attack that was splashed across the internet.
