Trinidad and Tobago Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi says he is taking a bill to Cabinet to amend the country's cybercrime laws to deal with reckless users who post obscene images and false news online.

The Attorney General says he will take the proposed amendments to Parliament tomorrow.

The plan to amend the Cybercrimes Bill comes amid complaints by the acting Police Commissioner that fake online news was creating a problem for the police, who often have to spend resources to check these reports.

Under Trinidad's Cybercrimes law, persons can be charged or imprisoned for posting obscene images online.
