PM Holness to address Grenada ruling party convention
ST GEORGE’S, Grenada (CMC):
Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness will be the featured speaker at the annual convention of the ruling New National Party (NNP) on Sunday.
NNP public relations officer, Simon Stielle, said that the convention will be held under the theme “NNP building our country and uniting our People” and that Holness, the leader of the ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) will address party supporters during a closed door morning session.
“He will be sharing his experience with the delegates and most importantly he will be delivering a motivational address to our delegates as we focus on building the Party and uniting our membership,” said Stielle.
During the morning session, NNP executives are expected to present reports, pass resolutions and elect a new executive.
The convention will end with a rally at which the political leader, widely expected to be Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell, will address supporters as the party gears for a general election that political observers say could be held this year.
In the 2013 general election, the NNP won all 15 seats in the Parliament. Thenext general election is constitutionally due in May next year.
“We expect hundreds of our supports to turn out to the rally,” said Stielle.
