Use insurance pay-outs to jump-start Dominica’s economy – PM Skerrit to business owners
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has called for the owners of businesses damaged by Hurricane Maria last month to use the insurance payments to help jump-start the Dominican economy.
The Category 5 hurricane slammed into the country on September 18 killing at least 28 people and left billions of dollars in damage.
Prime Minister Skerrit said he held discussions with the insurance companies and urged that payment be made as quickly as possible to property owners.
He reminded business owners that their businesses had been built on the support of Dominicans and urged them not to take the easy way out by taking the insurance payment and closing down their business.
