PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Police were searching for two men who dressed up as hospital workers and shot and killed a 25-year-old patient at the Port of Spain General Hospital on Tuesday night.

The police said that Dejean Broker of Laventille had been hospitalised following a stabbing incident earlier this week.

The police indicated that they will continue to maintain a presence at the hospital, adding that the investigation remains active.

Meanwhile, the North West Regional Health Authority said it has taken immediate steps to augment security services at the hospital and will be meeting with members of the Trinidad and Tobago Registered Nurses Association on Wednesday to collectively discuss and ascertain measures to improve the safety and security of staff.

It said counselling will be made available to affected employees and patients.
