Sandra Palmer: Nuggets of wisdom from the Donald Trump campaign

1. You've got to win in 2016

2016 can be your best year ever. You have got to pull out all the stops. How much do you want It now? You must want it as badly as you need oxygen to breathe. If you have been waiting on that one person to change your life, look in the mirror. That person is you. Prepare to finish way in front of the pack in 2016. Staying with the herd is a sure way to losing.

2. If you are determined to be stupid no one can stop you.

Get your act together. You cannot continue to do the same things and expect a different result. That's insanity. You cannot love someone who continues to hurt you and say it's love. Do not be stupid.

3. What other people think of you is none of your business.

We spend too much time thinking about how others view us. Stop buying things you can't afford, to impress people you don't like and others you don't even know. Learn to be independent of the good or bad opinion of others. If you can do this you are on your way to greatness.

4. Self-determination is the key, know what you want and pursue it with passion.

Too often we allow ourselves to walk away from our dreams because someone sowed seeds of doubts in our mind. You must be certain for which harbour you are headed. Seek counsel but always make up your own mind. The greatest problem of our time is that most persons have not decided what they want to accomplish and the plan of action.

5. Sometimes you have to be ruthless.

We were taught that it is nice to be important but it is more important to be nice. Good advice, however, there are times when being nice is not going to cut it. When people have made up their minds to be unreasonable, cold, callous and engage in downright skulduggery you have got to be ruthless. Stand up for yourself.

6. Believe you can and you are halfway there.

A belief is an assumed truth. Hence everything is a belief including this statement. We create beliefs to anchor our understanding of the world around us, and so, once we have formed a belief, we will tend to persevere with that belief. But beliefs are programmed mindsets that can be changed. So what you believe is important to how you feel about yourself.

7. Some people are so poor all they have is money.

It is said that money doesn't buy class, thus the 'buttu in a Benz' phenomenon. Being coarse and lacking in good manners telegraph to the world who we are at our core. The label on your designer clothes and the cost of your country club membership matters not, when you are mean and disrespectful to others.

8. Foolish consistency is not a virtue.

Always be open to 'begin again'. There is no virtue in being consistently foolish. If and when you get new information change your mind quickly. Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. You do not want to be the last manufacturer of the world's greatest buggy whip.

9. Confidence is a choice.

Confidence is one of the most attractive traits in a man or woman. Wear it well and the world will be your oyster. We chose to act with confidence in spite of our fears not because of the absence of fear. You cannot blow an uncertain trumpet.

10. My hair is perfect.

Nothing is wrong with your hair. Work with it and not against it. Some have no hair. Others have 'some hair' but that may be just between them and their hairstylist. There are no bad hair days.
