Editorial: Phillips, PM to declare, too?
Andrew Holness, the Jamaica Labour Party leader, has finally nailed down a date, by March 31, for the release of his finances in a bid to dissipate a storm of controversy over the multimillion-dollar mansion he and his wife are constructing in Beverly Hills, St Andrew.
Dr Peter Phillips, by virtue of his stump speeches on the election campaign, has made Mr Holness' house a conversation piece. We hold no opinion, now, on Mr Holness' ability to fund what Dr Phillips considers lavish spending.
But Dr Phillips and Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller should match Mr Holness' promise with a vow to stand up to public scrutiny themselves. Dr Phillips must not be found a sinner by his own sermon.
