Odeon Cineplex in Mandeville, Manchester, will close its doors after final shows on Tuesday, September 2.

Melanie Graham, marketing manager, Palace Amusement Company, says the closure is unavoidable and the cinema has not been financially viable since inception.

"The reality is that the company can no longer afford to subsidise Odeon Cineplex, which is now unsustainable in the face of rising operational cost. The closure is regrettable and we would like to thank our patrons in Mandeville and environs who supported the cinema," Graham said.

Ironically, Odeon Cineplex is the youngest member of the Palace Amusement family, having opened its doors on May 21, 2003. In keeping with the company's avant-garde brand, the cinema boasts digital technology, two screens and a comfortable seating capacity of about 400, making for a memorable movie experience.
