Man punched by Chris Brown settles lawsuit
The lawyer for a man who was punched by singer Chris Brown outside a Washington hotel says he has settled a lawsuit against the singer.
The Washington Post reports that John C. Hayes, the attorney for Parker Adams, confirmed lastThursday that a settlement had been reached. He did not say how much the settlement was worth. He did not immediately respond to requests for information from The Associated Press.
The settlement was first reported by TMZ.
Brown pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault on September 2. The singer admitted hitting Adams, who tried to get in a picture that the singer was taking with two females outside the W hotel in October 2013. Adams suffered a broken nose.
Brown was sentenced to time served.
New Batman Affleck backs bat-protection efforts
Two of the stars of the upcoming movie, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, have added some Hollywood heft to a Detroit-area group's efforts to protect bats.
Ben Affleck, who plays Batman in the movie; Amy Adams, who plays Lois Lane; and Zack Snyder, the film's director, appear in an Organization for Bat Conservation video, posted online last Monday to coincide with National Bat Week. Some of the movie is being filmed in Detroit.
The Detroit Free Press reports that the inspiration for the public service announcement was a National Public Radio story that Snyder heard on white nose syndrome, a fungal disease that's devastating Americn bat populations.
Materials from the movie's sets are being repurposed to build bat houses.
Kanye West and wife Kim names new home
Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian West, have named their new home after the property from Downton Abbey. The loved-up couple - who wed in Florence, Italy in May, and have one-year-old daughter North West together - have named their new Los Angeles home Highclere Castle, which is where the programme is filmed, because they want their home to mimic the property's opulence.
An LA insider told The Sun newspaper: "Kanye loves calling Kim 'lady'. He basically thinks he's an even cooler version of Lord Grantham."
Kim, 34, and her 37-year-old beau, have been constructing their new 1,050 sq ft home for several months and will finish off the property by erecting a sign proudly declaring the house's name.
The source continued: "He wants the home to resemble Downton in its grandeur and 'regalness' and there will be a sign naming it Highclere Castle."
The pair have previously gushed about the Julian Fellowes-produced show, with Kim declaring in September that she is desperate to have a cameo.
She told The Sun newspaper: "I'm a big fan. I'd love to be on it if they asked. I love things like that."
