The announcement of Konshens as a brand ambassador was made last Friday at Ribbiz Ultra Lounge in Barbican, St Andrew.

"I think it is a major stepping stone for me as an individual and as an artiste, not just for me, but for the industry as a whole. It shows that positive things are still happening and I think more of our artistes are looking at themselves as a brand nowadays and other brands are becoming aligned with them," Konshens said.

In addition to being named an ambassador, Konshens received a cheque valued at $500,000 for his Konshens Adopt A Cause Charity Foundation.

LIME's vice-president of marketing, Carlo Redwood, added that LIME would also be working with Konshens' foundation on a number of projects.

Giving back to society

"We will be working with him a lot to make sure that we can both continue to give back in different ways to Jamaica," he told The Gleaner.

While the partnership with Konshens isn't entirely new, Redwood says he is very pleased to have the artiste on board.

"Music is an important part of what our customers love. You can't do anything in Jamaica without music and we believe that he was the right choice for us," Redwood said. "He is all about giving back. He has a foundation and is very focused on it. All the elements we were looking for, we got, because we were looking for someone to help communicate our value message through music."

But Konshens is not the only new ambassador, as former beauty queen, Sara Lawrence, was also announced as another of LIME's brand ambassadors.

"It is an honour to be asked by such a major company, not only locally, but regionally, to represent the brand. It is one of a few other endorsements, but every one is unique. Every time I am asked to do something like this, I am truly humbled," Lawrence told The Gleaner.

Lawrence, who was also presented with a new mobile phone at the event, noted that the advertisements with her will be seen in coming weeks and she also plans to work closely with the LIME Foundation.
