Hennessey V high on fashion
To mark its second anniversary, Hennessy V was quite a fashionable affair when it was held at The Terrace in New Kingston on Saturday.
With the theme being the 'Met Gala Edition', it was no surprise that male patrons were decked out in suits and their female counterparts wore their gown-like outfits with much class. Top-shelf liquor was also the order of the night, with most bistro tables stacked to capacity. The waitresses were also out in their numbers, tending to the needs of patrons, saving them from making trips to the numerous bars.
The decor was also proof of how the party has grown since the first staging a few years ago in a small section of Sabina Park. There was also the expected red carpet and a nicely placed elevated VIP section.
While the ambiance was good, the energy in the venue was not always high. Unfortunately, some patrons were more keen on maintaining an image and 'popping bottles', than actually partying. There was minimal dancing as Iron Heart Sound played songs from the likes of Vybz Kartel, Popcaan, Specialist and I-Octane.
ZJ Crome also entertained with Aidonia's Evil Head and Bounty Killer's Nuh Fren Fish. But the first bit of real dancing came much later when he played Bling Dawg's Kreech, followed by Bobby Schmurda's Hot Na. Demarco's Good Book was also well-received. Chi Ching Ching later took to the front of the party as Chrome played his Way Up song, that also had many patrons doing the relatively easy dance move.
The momentum increased as Chrome continued to play songs like Vawnessa Bling's Independent Ladies, Busy Signal's Bedroom Bully and Konshens' Gal A Bubble.
Flabba Dabba also got some good reception from the rap-loving patrons with Rae Sremmurd's No Flex Zone, Young Thugs' Stoner, and Kat Dahlia's Mash It Up.
