Saint model makes hot list
The website models.com has listed Jamaican Kai Newman on The Hot List, which is a curated line-up of the most in-demand newcomers in the business. Included are the girls who conquered the runways, snagged spots in the very best campaigns and look-books and made editorial waves in top-tier magazines - all within a season or two.
"Kai's rise has been nothing short of meteoric," said Deiwght Peters, founder and CEO of Saint International Model Management. Peters discovered Kai while she was walking home from the dentist with her mother. Since then, she won the Fashion Face of the Caribbean 2013 at 14 years old and was signed by One Management Modeling Agency.
In September 2013, during her debut season, Kai blazed the runway for top brands such as Calvin Klein, Rodarte, Tommy Hilfiger, Gucci, Alberta Ferretti, MiuMiu, and Hermes. She was named by models.com among the top-10 new faces in the world for September 2013 shows.
Kai was awarded the Prime Minister's Youth Award for International Achievement in 2014.
A slew of high-profile editorial appearances followed for magazines such as German Vogue and ID, then she appeared for trendsetting brands Tommy Hilfiger and Kenneth Cole. She has also done work for brands such as Balmain, Marc Jacobs, Thakoon, and Helmut Lang.
"Kai can have a very long career. This is just the beginning," Peters said. She is one of six black models on the list and the only one from the English-speaking Caribbean. Her global career is managed by Saint International with a team of its affiliates, including Premier (London), WHY NOT (Milan), Elite Paris, and Uno (Barcelona).
