DeeWunn scores with Banggaz Playlist Mix
They call him the Jamaican hybrid because he mixes his Jamaican hardcore style with rap, to create what some are now branding as a new genre called yardcore.
Damone Walker, known
in the music business as DeeWunn, and bred as a member of Ward 21’s BadaBada Gang since late 2010, is known for releases such as Mek It Bunx Up, featuring Marcy Chin, and Mic Magician, featuring Ward 21 and Marcy Chin, among others.
Now, DeeWunn is enjoying heightened attention with the release of his Banggaz – The Playlist Mix project.
Banggaz has earned DeeWunn positive feedback from his team and mentors in the business and is scheduled for a promotional tour of Canada in early 2015.
“It’s not quite a mix, but a playlist full of Banggaz,” is how DeeWunn describes the project, which is available as a free download on his website.
Banggaz could be aptly described as a cross between a mix tape and an EP, offering a range of music that shows the Jamaican rapper’s true potential, which no doubt would have whetted the appetite of his fans and attracted other lovers of the dancehall and hip-hop genres to his style.
Banggaz consists of previously released singles, Mek It Bunx Up, featuring Marcy Chin; High Grade; White Rum, featuring Marcy Chin and Sly Rankin; Mic Magician, featuring Ward 21 and Marcy Chin; Dash Weh Pon Dem; and a single featuring Ward 21’s Kunley.
Among the new tracks are a snippet of I Got Style, Warning, Bed Breaka, Ron Carter Bass and BRICS, featuring fellow BadaBada Gang member Tony LoCinto.
Also included are freestyles that were done specifically for Major Lazer, DJ Corey and ZJ Chrome.
