Reggae artiste Protoje, hot on the heels of his successful single Who Knows, featuring Chronixx, and his recently released single, Stylin, both produced by Winta James of Overstand Entertainment, has been named on BBC 1xtra's Hot for 2015 Artiste list.

What this means is that he will be promoted across the BBC platform next year, along with the other 14 artistes, who include Stormzy, Little Simz, Raury, Blonde, Bobby Shmurda, George The Poet, Krishane, LionBabe, Mila J, Novelist, Rag N Bone Man, Silvastone, Sinead Harnett and Zak Able.

The promotion commenced with the announcement by BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ MistaJam on his show last Saturday. Protoje and other listed artistes were interviewed, with his singles Who Knows and Stylin being featured.

MistaJam is quoted on bbc.co.uk as saying, "This year the Hot For list is stronger than ever. They've all been picked because 1Xtra DJs believe they're producing the quality music needed to become big in the next 12 months. It's a real cross section of really exciting new talent, all currently on their A game."

This is great news for ProtojÈ, who will be releasing his album Ancient Future, in 2015. He will also be making his debut performance in the United Kingdom with his band Indiggnation at, 'Ram Jam Presents Protoje and The Indiggnation' at the Electric Brixton in London on March 27 with Sir David Rodigan, the original reggae selector and sound clash champion. Other acts like Congo Natty, Rootiical and Kiko Bun are also participating.

quite humbled

Protoje is quite humbled by his selection, and after a scintillating performance in Malaga, Spain, said, "I give thanks to BBC for helping to validate internationally what this movement has been accomplishing. For me to be a part of such a highly prestigious list is an honour."

Protoje and the Indiggnation are about to wrap their 33 dates in a 39-day European tour. Many of the shows were sold out and they got the opportunity to do shows with the great French band Danakil as well as the very talented Martinique-born Yaniss Odua.

Protoje and The Indiggnation are already booked for tours to California in February 2015, UK and Europe in March, April and May, and a summer tour in Europe.

They are all set to perform in Jamaica at the stellar event Live From Kingston this Saturday at Hope Gardens. The event will also see the likes of Kabaka Pyramid, No-Maddz, Sevana, and Runkus performing.
