WESTERN BUREAU:Talk about delivering on the experience, and that was exactly what the Royalton White Sands in Trelawny handed to its first-time guest, Paule Gagnon of Montreal, Canada, for New Years Eve.

Wrapped in a black, elegant, yet very sexy dress, 2014 Voice winner, Tessanne Chin, was the gift the woman who has been coming to Jamaica for 25 years received, although she had to share the spoils with more than 1,000 people in attendance at the resorts entertainment plaza.

A major coup is how those in the know describe what the hotel pulled off.

The resort, which is celebrating its first anniversary, had responded to an email request from Gagnon, asking to see her favourite artiste in concert Chin which they made a reality. Having watched the Jamaican reggae artiste on television during the NBC-staged competition, all Gagnon wanted was to see her perform on her own island.

I was in Jamaica New Year in 2014 and had a wonderful experience, and I wanted to top that, Gagnon, who travelled with her husband, Robert LaRose, told The Sunday Gleaner, adding that having a front-stage view of Chins performance was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

With only a days notice that her wish had been granted, Gagnon said she spent the day at the spa, making herself beautiful for her favourite singer.

I had a facial, got a massage and a mani and pedi for Tessannes performance, she said, adding that it cost her a pretty penny, but so what?

When Chin made her entrance onstage at 11:35 p.m., an energy, felt not only by Gagnon, reverberated in the atmosphere. The audience stood in anticipation, waiting for an act renowned to excite.

Chin went deep within her soul and drew Try, the song that heralded her entrance on The Voice. Before she belted a word, she declared, this song formed a whole new part of my journey.

Then she paid tribute to People Magazines sexiest man for 2014, Adam Levine, while telling the people in the audience to never stop dreaming or believing.

As the clock ticked and the countdown to midnight neared, Chin pulled for No Doubts Underneath it All, before showing immense maturity and versatility with Simon and Garfunkels Bridge Over Troubled Waters and Bob Marleys Redemption Song.

Thrilling the audience with hit after hit, she had them transfixed, while introducing the title track, Count on my Love, from her new album, which she dedicated to husband, Michael Anthony Cuffe, who she said allows her to sing and travel all over the world.

2014 was an amazing year, she reiterated, which was already a given for those who watched her walk into her own hall of fame.

Three minutes to midnight when the countdown began to herald 2015, Chin took a break. While other lovers in the audience kissed and hugged in welcome of the New Year, Chin kissed her Cuffe lovingly.

She was absolutely amazing, said Gagnon, after Chin completed a set that included a cover of Magics popular song, Rude.

The resorts general manager, Armando Puzzuti, was excited and utterly satisfied.

Our hotel was full, so we didnt need a Tessanne to pull a crowd towards us for New Years Eve. Our having one of the countrys best performers on the request of a guest was all about satisfying an experience, said Puzzuti.

The general manager said they kept the info a secret from their guests. It was only yesterday (Tuesday) that Paule knew that Tessanne was actually performing, even though we had booked her two months ago, said Puzzuti.

Tessanne, coupled with seven minutes of live fireworks and a top class DJ, was all the guests at Royalton White Sands needed to ring in the New Year.
