Debbie Bissoon leaves E-Prime
Deborah 'Debbie' Bissoon, the host of Television Jamaica's entertainment programme 'E-Prime', has announced that she is leaving the station after more than four years.
Noting what she described as opposing priorities, Bissoon, who is a presenter and producer, says she wants to expand her horizons.
"I decided to leave because I wanted to do more as a freelancer and somebody with an interest in entertainment and media. However, conversations with management proved that because of certain policies within the station, there was not much more that I could do outside of RJR in my position. So for me to expand into other areas of entertainment and media, I had to make a decision that I believe is in my best interest right now," Bissoon said.
The last episode of E-Prime featuring Debbie Bissoon was aired last Friday, however, the media personality maintains that relations have not deteriorated with management.
"It's still the same. When I made the decision, you could feel the stillness in the room because over the years, they also became my life coaches and friends ... but I believe as part of my personal growth, I need to branch out and do some more. There is no doubt that our paths will cross because media in Jamaica is very small, and when we look at the persons on top of the game in media, it is RJR, it is TVJ. They are happy for me and love me, and I love them the very same way," she said.
Still a presenter
Bissoon says she will still act as a freelance host, producer, and presenter. She is also a brand manager at the Marley Group of companies.
"As a true freelance presenter and producer, I am able to work with and on other projects with other entities and I look forward to doing so. I will be presenting and producing a couple of programmes for myself as well. This new opportunity has given me more freedom to branch out into other areas of entertainment," she said.
