Sophia Brown set for Rebel Salute
A few weeks after being crowned 'Best Female Lovers' Rock Singer', at the inaugural Lady Flava Network Awards in Hartford, Connecticut, reggae songbird Sophia Brown now has her sights set on delivering a winning performance at Rebel Salute 2015, to be held at Richmond Estate in St Ann on January 16 and 17.
Booked to grace the stage on the final night, a very confident Brown is hoping to make her mark on her first outing for 2015.
"This will be my first time gracing the stage at Rebel Salute and I am ready to bring it to fans, gift-wrapped and all," she said.
Considered one of the hardest-working female performers in the industry, the sultry Brown has been busy recording and promoting songs from her catalogue. In May, she shot the video for We're Lovers in Los Angeles. This summer, she released Wide Awake, a lovers' rock ballad about falling in love that charted in the United States. In September, she dropped the sizzling R&B-flavoured Rain Over Me that made it in the top 10 of the New Style Radio 98.7 FM chart in Birmingham, England, and is currently number six on the Star Top Ten chart in New York. She also recorded three other songs, which will be included on her soon-to-be-released album.
"I am doing what I love to do, which is to record and perform music, and it hardly ever feels like work," she said.
Rebel Salute 2015, which was officially launched at the Countryside Club in St Andrew recently, has already signed top reggae acts, including Israel Vibrations, Third World, Italian reggae star Alborosie, Tarrus Riley, Etana, Jesse Royal, Jah9, and Kabaka Pyramid. The final night will be headlined by foundation reggae band Inner Circle, Sizzla, Luciano, Richie Spice, and the Mighty Diamonds.
