Reggae icon, the late John Holt has been honoured by Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival for his years of great music "for the world to enjoy".

Brian Holt, the son of the late singer, accepted the award following his surprise performance on opening night of the 2015 staging of the festival, at the Telawny Multi-purpose Stadium.

Holt junior gave a stellar rendition of some of his father’s greatest hits, including I Want The Love I Can Feel and Be Careful.

Following his performance, organizer of the festival, Walter Elmore, accompanied by festival coordinator, Jackie Norman made the official presentation to Holt's son.

Elmore also called for a moment of silence for the late Reggae icon.
