JCDC Children's Gospel deadline today
The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Youth & Culture, is making a final call to persons who want to enter the 2015 JCDC Jamaica Children's Gospel Song Competition. The deadline is today.
The competition is open to children six - 10 and 11 - 15 year-old categories. Entries are accepted from individuals, churches, schools and community groups and the songs can either be covers or original. Persons can enter in three categories, solo, ensemble and choir.
According to Stephen Davidson, director of marketing and public relations at the JCDC, "Each year, we are amazed to see some of the talents that emerge from these competitions. Some of the participants who enter this competition have also moved on to enter our adult gospel competition. One such person is Oshin Levy who was placed second in the Children's Gospel Competition in 2006 and later entered the 2012 Jamaica Gospel Song Competition as part of the Levy's Heritage and won the competition."
Davidson noted that in addition to the cash, trophies and other prizes that are won by contestants, the competition is a platform for them to gain confidence and other personal traits, as well as hone their talent.
Entry forms for the competition are available online at www.jcdc.gov.jm, the JCDC head office at 3 - 5 Phoenix Avenue, Kingston 10, and all
JCDC parish offices islandwide.
