CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP):

Corpus Christi, Texas, police have reunited a suspected drunken driver with his arm after the prosthetic limb was left behind following a car accident.

Senior Officer Marc Harrod said last Friday that police located the man's right arm in the vehicle, then found him walking nearby.

Harrod says 23-year-old Juan Gutierrez of Corpus Christi allegedly left the scene of the one-car wreck early Thursday. Gutierrez and a passenger were treated for minor injuries.

Gutierrez was booked on a misdemeanour driving while intoxicated charge, with bond set at US$1,000. Nueces County jail records did not list an attorney for Gutierrez, who was no longer in custody Friday.

Harrod says the limb was returned to Gutierrez while he was in jail.
