Internationally renowned Maybelline make-up artist Jaime Martinez recently toured major cities across the island, as he was commissioned by Maybelline's exclusive distributor, The Beauty Spot, to conduct a series of training and promotional makeovers at Fontana and Monarch pharmacies islandwide.

From humble beginnings to starlights, Martinez, who was born and raised in Puerto Rico, has always had a passion for the well-being of women.

"I admire and respect women. My mother taught me that growing up. As a single mother, she succeeded at teaching me how to be humble and to appreciate women and their beauty, inside and out," Martinez said. He added that his mantra is to "treat people the way I want to be treated".

After high-school graduation, Martinez attended the University of Puerto Rico, where he pursued a degree in interior design and then went on to the Carlota Alfaro College, where he attained another degree in fashion design.

He boasts six years with EstÈe Lauder and Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, accumulating scores of seminar presentations under his belt.

He went on to study at the Rogie's School of Beauty Culture and graduated with honours. Martinez also led the hairstylist and bridal competition at the Miami Beach International Beauty Show.

He has now joined, exclusively, the Maybelline family as an international make-up artist for the Caribbean. He teaches women how to apply their make-up and also gives a number of motivational talks worldwide in a bid to help women appreciate their natural beauty. Martinez wants to be an inspiration to other make-up artists and to women, showing them that beauty starts from within.
