Children Gospel Song Finalists Chosen
Patrons were captivated by the outstanding talents that were unearthed and on show at the recently held Jamaica Children's Gospel Song Semi-final concert at the Rehoboth Gospel Assembly. This event was hosted by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission, an agency of the Ministry of Youth and Culture.
The children received thunderous applause from the audience as they ministered. Some of them even received standing ovation. The concert saw the children, who had made it pass the elimination round of the competition, performing cover songs from the gospel collection of local and international singers.
The top four finalists in each class and category (ages 6-10, 11-15, choir, solo, and ensemble) will now vie for the national title at the grand final
scheduled to be held during Child's Month at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre. The top two most talented performers will be awarded cash incentives, gift packages and trophies in the solo, ensemble and choir categories.
The 24 finalists will now participate in creative workshops designed for children in some of the state-owned child-care facilities. The workshops and ministry will be conducted by children under the guidance of their teachers in areas such as speech, drama, dance and music.
