Two-day celebration for Sugar Minott

Minott Movements Production in association with My Block Records will be hosting the fifth annual staging of Sugar Minott Day, but this time, the celebrations will take place over two days, May 24 and 25.

The event will be held at Youthman Promotion HQ, located at 1 Robert Crescent, Kingston 5, and according to Pashon Minott, this staging will be even more star-studded.

"For the first time in the event's staging, the show will be split into two days. The first night will feature a host of top-quality live performances by a diverse set of artistes," she told The Gleaner.

Showtime is 8 p.m., with performances from artistes like Junior Reid, Sizzla, Bounty Killer, Konshens,Voicemail, Pashon Minott, Blaw Minott, Frankie Paul, Errol Dunkley, Mighty Diamond, among others, while music will be provided by King Tafari Sound.

While on day two, the actual birthday of Lincoln 'Sugar' Minott, will be celebrated with an all-vinyl showcase dubbed, Gi Dem Inna Dancehall Style. This aspect of the celebration will feature featuring classic selections from Sound Trooper and Caveman Sound.

Day one of the celebrations will attract an entrance fee of $1,000, while day two will be free.

Continuing legacy

"This holiday weekend, there is sure to be a good thing going at Robert Crescent, so make it a date and don't be late. The Godfather of Dancehall's works live on," Pashon Minott said.

The Minott siblings are also hosting a weekly talent show at Youthman Promotion to expose new talent. According to Pashon, Sugar Minott would have his life celebration no other way than helping others draw closer to their goals.

Minott Movements Production is also promoting the Fever rhythm compilation, which features the single, Dazzling, by new artiste Dazzlin. Sugar Minott's grandchildren, Destiny Minott and Swag J, are also working on new projects.
