Pulse's Search For Million Dollar Girl Hits TVJ June 6
The Pulse Search For The Million Dollar Girl, which was launched in 2014, unearthed hundreds of model hopefuls anxious to become international models and to win the $1million prize.
Now, the top-21 new faces selected at the live finals last August will compete for the top prize on the reality TV show for the event, which starts airing on TVJ on Saturday, June 6, at 9:30 p.m. The reality show, featuring Pulse, Vogue and L'Oreal supermodel Jeneil Williams, will run for eight weeks and is the culmination of the 2014 search. This will be followed by the 2015 live show, which ends in August.
At the end of the TV show, one lucky girl with the perfect face, body and spirit will be selected Pulse's Million Dollar Girl and will be awarded $1 million in cash and prizes (with no less than $300,000 in cash). Prizes include an airline ticket to New York to visit model agencies, guaranteed modeling contracts, and weekends on Jamaica's north coast.
Since 1980, the Pulse Search has produced fashion legends like Kimberley Mais, Angela Neil, Carla Campbell, Romae Gordon, Althea Laing, Lincoln Wynter and Lois Samuels, as well as more recent supermodels, Jeneil Williams, Oraine Barrett, Jaunel McKenzie, Sedene Blake, Nell Robinson, and Nadine Willis.
Interested new faces who think that they have what it takes to be the 2015 winner are asked to visit Pulse at 38A Trafalgar Road, New Kingston, any Wednesday at 4 p.m., taking along a swimsuit and a pair of high-heel shoes. They may also call 960-0049. The Pulse Search continues to target young men as well. Young women will be accepted in all categories - fashion, petite and full figure.
The TV contestant in the spotlight this week is Alicia Burke.
Twenty-year-old Alicia Burk entered the Pulse Million Dollar Girl Search to win and to pursue her dream of becoming a model. She makes no bones about it. Standing 5' 9.5 tall, Burke is from Bullet Tree district in Old Harbour.
Burke is an accounts receivable and inventory clerk and lists Pulse's multiple Vogue cover girl and current L'Oreal global campaign star Jeneil Williams as her favourite Pulse model.
She thinks her personality is the most interesting thing about her and she loves to go out, have fun, laugh, play and give trouble, not necessarily in that order. Davina Bennett is her bestie in the Model Search.
Burke is proud of her five CXC subjects and thinks that walking the Pulse runway has been her greatest achievement to date. She will once again get a chance to do this as Caribbean FashionWeek fast approaches. She is naturally adventurous and rates herself an excellent dancer.
A reader of many books, Alicia loves baked beans, frankfurters and rice. She wants people to know that although she may be shy, she is determined to succeed.
