After a successful launch last year, the St Ann Jerk Festival and Family Fun Day returns to the Turtle River Park in Ocho Rios, St Ann, on Independence Day, Thursday, August 6.

Equipped with experience gained from the first show, the promoters, Streets Entertainment, have promised a bigger and better event this year. Activities will cater to all family members, with rides for the children and jerked offerings for the adults. Later on, a stage show will close the event.

"Everything is bigger, everything is better than last year, and we're just hoping everything goes according to plan," said Kelly Streets of Streets Entertainment.

"We have corrected all the mistakes made at the first show. It was a learning process for us the last time. What we did was get back to the drawing board, made the corrections, so those mistakes are not supposed to happen again," he assured.

He pointed out that more rides will be available. "For the kids, Bounce Out Party Rental is sponsoring, so the entire kiddies village will be powered by Bounce Out. Actually, everything from the store will be there, so the kids will have a lot to occupy their time."

At the food stalls, experienced chefs will ensure that everything goes well over the fire.

The food area will see established and well-loved restaurants bringing their expertise to the park, complemented by well-known chefs. Giveaways and entertainment for the children will form part of the event.

The stage show begins in the evening and will feature Konshens, Busy Signal and Zagga. Other performers will include gospel and variety acts such as a snake charmer, magician and jugglers.

"Patrons can look forward to good food and fun for the entire family. It's a compact event from start to finish. It's holiday, Independence Day, so let's celebrate our independence," Streets said.
